"A Beautiful Mind takes a life-and-death road trip in this battle of wits, maze of psychological suspense, and heartbreaking family drama."Hank Phillippi Ryan, USA Today bestselling author of One Wrong Word

A road trip to find closure… or a reckless chase that could turn deadly?

Penny has never met anyone smarter than her. That's par for the course when you're a savant--one of less than one hundred in the world. But despite her photographic memory and super-powered intellect, there's one mystery Penny's never been able to solve: why did her father leave when she was in a coma at age seven, and where is he now?

On Penny's twenty-first birthday, she receives a card in the mail from him, just as she has every year since he left. But this birthday card is different. For the first time ever, there's a return address. And a goodbye.

Penny doesn't know the world beyond her mother's house and the special school she's attended since her unusual abilities revealed themselves, but the mystery of her father's disappearance becomes her new obsession. For the first time ever she decides to leave home, to break free of everything that has kept her safe, and use her gifts to answer the questions that have always eluded her. What Penny doesn't realize is she might not be able to outsmart a world far more complicated and dangerous than she'd ever imagined...

Surprised Face with Open Mouth“I had this book on my shelf for a while and a friend inspired me to pick it up. Now I'm wondering why it sat there for so long! This book was very difficult to put down; I was immediately invested in the protagonist, Penny Bly. Due to a traumatic brain, Penny is now quite the gifted individual. She has an eidetic memory, hyperthymesia and grapheme-colour synaesthesia, and we see her navigate the real world on a quest to find her father. Penny starts off as a very sheltered individual, but she is extremely smart, gutsy and learns quickly. The short chapters made it very easy to read, and it was action-packed. I'm surprised by how gritty and raw some scenes were, but they serve to further the plot and also allow the reader to see the true Penny and how capable she is. This is both a heartwarming and heartbreaking book with a great sense of the unknown. I found the plot to be quite unpredictable and very engaging. If you have a Carter Wilson book on your TBR, don't wait like I did to read it! Special thanks to Kaye Publicity and Poisoned Pen Press for my copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.”
“I give this 3.5 stars. For a good majority of the book, I was on edge wondering what was going to happen next. I was intrigued and fighting sleep to see what was going to unfold. But the end fell really flat for me and I ended up a bit disappointed by it.”
