“This was a really good palette cleansing book for when I didn’t want to read my usual choice of book. It was a little short, and I do feel as if the author could’ve combined some books in the series to make a few longer books rather than lots of short ones, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.
I was very interested in the way that the zombies, or ‘infected’, were perceived. It was refreshing to not have the same slow, stupid zombies that are most common, but ones that would work together as a team and knew when to prowl before pouncing. It gave a much more authentic fear-factor and made the ‘infected’ a more predatory threat that made the characters have to think more critically about each situation they came across.
I also really enjoyed the strong relationship between siblings, Cassy & Josh, as well as how it was written. The way both siblings worried about each other and tried their best to not get separated was very relatable and gave the characters more depth into how their personalities worked together both positively and negatively.”
