Slightly Smiling Face“took me several weeks to read the first 60%, i went at a very slow pace. beginning w relativity, that was pretty digestible. but when it transitioned to quantum mechanics and then further to the deep workings of strings, it became much more difficult to grasp and i gave up trying to deeply comprehend it at an intuitive level and just tried to grasp its essence as i went along. but things eased off once i got to the last section, which connected all these theories to cosmology, and i read the remaining 40% in one sitting. topics ranged from 11 dimensions, to quantum fluctuations, to calabi-yau manifolds, to supersymmetry, to the M-theory, to the multiverse. the frenzied excitement as the universe unravelled just a bit more before my eyes was a wave i just kept riding until the end. there were moments of epiphanies, where it all made sense to me, there were moments of awe at their dedication, there were moments of euphoric laughter and joy, and of course there were periods where i was just kind of lost. its a truly beautiful and awfully humbling quest of humanity, to understand the universe.”
