Secrets, Lies, and a Lock

Ever since her father's unexpected death, Cecilia Chenoweth has felt like the heroine of a bad Gothic novel. In addition to leaving her alone and destitute, her father made a deathbed confession that it was no mere fever that took her mother's life some twenty years ago. Then he pressed a sinister key into her hands, bidding her to go forth and uncover the truth. If only she knew where to find the lock that will open to the mysterious key…

Cold, Bold, and Dangerous to Know

There is one man who recognizes the black key bearing the emblem of a snake: Marcus Latimer, the newly minted Duke of Trevissick. Now that his abusive father is rotting in hell where he belongs, Marcus is eager for his life to stop resembling a bad Gothic novel. No one would ever have thought to pair the dangerously handsome duke with the meek little rector's daughter. But as he helps Cecilia on her quest, Marcus discovers a well of passion hiding behind her sloe eyes that may just be a match for his own.

Two Hearts on a Perilous Path

But Cecilia's search for the truth about her mother's death unearths dark secrets from Marcus's past, secrets that will destroy the new life he has built for his beloved sister and condemn one of the few people he cares about to death. What will he do when he is forced to choose between loyalty… and love?

The Duke's Dark Secret Reviews

4.0
“We took a little step back from the love lives of the Astley children being the primary focus of the narrative in this one, but that doesn’t make it any less wonderful. Our primary couple this round was Cecelia, an orphaned daughter of a vicar, whom the Astley’s have taken in. Being a lifelong friend, it was only natural for them to step in. Reeling from the sudden death of her father and the gaping whole he left not just as a parent but from the giant rip he made into Ceci’s determined past. If her mother’s death when she was an infant, was not illness…whatever could it have been? Then we have our impetuous Duke, Marcus. Recently stepping into the title with the passing of his abhorrent father, Marcus is determined to right the wrongs his father did to the best of his ability. He brings his beloved sister back from living in Yorkshire with an Aunt Griselda, she was safe. She would shine, but to do so, Marcus needed the aid of the Astley’s and of course Ceci with her immaculate and passionate talent for the piano. Ceci’s performance of Beethoven is like a balm to Marcus’ soul, having discovered her rare talent while overhearing her play one day. This leads to his need to have her play for him as often as possible, just to escape for a little while. Does this connection lead to more? Will Cecilia solve the mystery of how her mother really died? Can Marcus overcome is demons and trust that those he loves can care for themselves?”
Beaming Face with Smiling Eyes“Really good, and the dirty talk was incredibly dirty and hot. They are so made for eachother, I loved it”
