“Iian Brennan is the kinda man you can get drunk off of with one look. Bearded, muscled sexiness with an Irish accent to boot. (Where do I sign up to get my hands on one of these?!) And if for some reason ruggedly handsome isn't your thing (really??) you can always get drunk off his award-winning whiskey instead. Naomi Klein is a free-spirited artist in a family of uptight socialites who isn't willing to let her guard down for anyone. So how is it that she finds herself breaking more and more of her self imposed rules with Iian, and her artwork suddenly looks a lot like... love? The Distiller's Darling is the kind of feel-good romance that makes me fall in love with the genre all over again.”

“OMG!!! Who can totally relate to the relationship these people have with their families...try almost everyone. Starting there Corine and Jamaila had me from the get-go. Except for the obscene amount of money the families have I would say the story of my life. I say you go girl on doing everything for yourself and by yourself. Just a little thing you kind of took it a little bit too far, you can lose that man after all those delicious nights you spend with him. I love Iain's character because he is really determined, yet what makes him really relatable is the fact that he shows his vulnerability when he tries to go against the other men in his family to attain his dream and make a possibility his sister's dream. These two characters are almost identical and while the situations they find themselves having with their families while different, there are two things that prevail their need to prove their worth to their families and the fact that they are really determined to achieve it. Naomi is a very strong female character that has grown through the expression of art, she is very set in her ideas, the opinions she has of the high society to which she belongs and also on the notion she has of how her family members perceive her and also on her opinion of what her family expects from her. She is fighting to shine amidst all the achievements of her mother, father, and her brother. So even when she shows herself as confident, she comes of as being a rebel, hence the inability to make people see the real her. Even with the obstacles that these two characters have to surpass, they finally are able to do it because they complement each other so well that they become part of the other one strength.”

Wine and whiskey may not mix, but Iain and Naomi are the perfect combination of sultry and sweet. She brings out his naughty side and he awakens her emotional side. She's always been passionate about her art, her hopes and her dreams, but she has never believe in love. Amidst the secrets and well meaning, yet overbearing parents, these two manage to find something special. Can they make it stick? The Distiller's Darling keeps the subtlety to a minimum, while presenting a flavorful look at love.”

“3.5 STARS This was my first read from either of these authors and I have to say I liked it. It was an easy read with engaging characters. While I liked most of the characters, I have to admit, I was not a fan of our MC, Naomi. I get that she was a commitment-phobe, but she really acted crappy to Iain on several occasions and did some questionable things because she didn't want him or anyone else to think they were in a relationship. Iain was another story all together. I really liked him. Yes, he was anti-rel;ationship going in to his relationship with Naomi, but he wasn't as freaked out about it like Naomi.”
