“As a former journalism student, I am completely in awe of every story collected in this book. The mastery of storytelling, the amount of research (first-through-third hand), the subject matter choices - all of it, remarkable! I'm a big fan of his long-form non-fiction (Killers of the Flower Moon was incredible) so it was a joy and a breeze to take in these pieces. The only bummer is how far in the past these were written, as 20 or more years have passed for all of them; there have been many updates and different lenses framing these stories that even the updates from 10-15 years ago are now greatly outdated.”About David Grann
