“I've read all of Monkeewrench and was very disappointed in this one. The good parts are the ending and as always the relationships. However, after that, it becomes quite rough; the prose is unrealistic and shallow. I found myself asking "Who talks like this" multiple times. I'm a police officer in Minnesota in real life, and I am good at suspending reality, but this one was brutal on the accuracy front, especially in the conversations cops have, and it kept pulling me out of the narrative. Finally, multiple characters act completely against their established personalities and I guess Tracy was going for growth beyond suspicion as a fault but she doesn't earn it. Very disappointed I don't know if I'll continue reading the series.”
