“This book is interesting. Such an interesting concept. A little confusing on the change of perspectives, understanding who specifically is talking. I enjoyed it but I had other distractions that kept me from completely feeling the depth of the story. I honestly need to give it a second read.
There is a complicated feeling of being forced to remember one’s history of their people, especially the bad. But as Yetu finds out, history is not meant to be carried alone. You can exist in both the past and the present. It is better to have your history and remember it rather than allow it to be forgotten or worse, lost forever.”

Daveed Diggs
Daveed Diggs is an actor, singer, producer, writer, and rapper. He is the vocalist of the experimental hip hop group Clipping. Diggs originated the role of Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson in the 2015 musical Hamilton by Lin-Manuel Miranda which he won a Grammy and Tony for.
