I really, really like late Victorian London as a setting and especially when its coupled with the rife interest in Spiritualism of the time. This is an oddly charming and witty Victorian romp with two very likeable MCs. The author has successfully captured the resonance of late Victorian mystery writers but removed some of the stuffiness. There is plenty of historical detail and the mystery itself is a nice, tidy little intrigue. A very solid start to a series.”

Lisa Tuttle was born and raised in Houston, Texas, won the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer in 1974, and now lives with her husband and daughter on the west coast of Scotland. Her first novel, Windhaven, was written with George R. R. Martin. Other novels include Lost Futures, which was shortlisted for the Arthur C. Clarke Award, The Pillow Friend, and The Mysteries.
