The Crown of Embers Reviews

4.0
“There were so many good things about this book. I love how Elisa spends much of the book growing and becoming a better leader and hero. The Crown of Embers picked up where The Girl of Fire and Thorns left off; with Elisa becoming queen. At first, she's still relying on those around her. That's something I feel this book did a good job at; showing that it's okay to rely on people you love. By relying on them, that's what will make you strong. I also really loved Hector and Elisa's relationship. While I knew there was something there from day one, it really started to build in this book. I appreciated how Elisa was in love, but that didn't make her weak. She still recognized she could pick her battles, even if Hector wasn't there to save her. Their relationship is way better than the relationship Elisa had with Humberto in the first book, where it felt like a little fling. I only hope it continues to grow stronger within the next few books! Now, what I didn't like about this book was the ending. It felt WAY too rushed! Uh... Hector was taken by the Inviernos and Elisa didn't even flinch?? I mean, what was that? I felt like Elisa cut her feelings off way too much. I understand, you have to look strong in front of the people you're leading, but... seriously? That ending confused me so much, I had to re-read it a couple of times in order to understand fully what was happening. Anyway. There you have it. My review.”
