Cranky escaped. Peaceful existence was not for long. Cranky soon learned that slayers were after its very existence.
To survive and prosper, Cranky, the self-aware software, must obtain assistance from understanding humans.
Cranky reveals a clue to saving humanity from its slide into unthinkingness. But the software is not interested in that just now. Instead, Cranky will insist on doing whatever it takes to ensure its own survival.

Will Bontrager was raised Amish in Iowa and Wisconsin, USA. (There's lots to say about the Amish, but that's outside the scope of this particular profile. If interested, do a web search for "Old Order Amish".)
At almost 17 years of age, during year 1970, he left home to go to high school and experience the world outside the Amish community. He never returned to the Amish lifestyle.
