“Who doesn't love a good second chance romance? That's what you get in The Cowboy Bargain. Liv and Sam were engaged to be married, until she ran for it right before their wedding leaving just a note, which Sam promptly burned. For years, she snuck back to her hometown without speaking to him but now Liv is back for good, or so she says. And now that Sam is her landlord, they're going to have to see quite a bit of each other, which neither is particularly excited about.
There was definitely some tension between Sam and Liv, as anyone would expect from a couple who broke up right before their wedding. I think a lot of the heartbreak could have been spared if they had just sat down together to really talk before Liv ran, but maybe she just wasn't ready for that and needed time to mature and grow. She was just so concerned with losing her dreams. Liv and Sam both have a lot to come to terms with about their past and a possible future when feelings rise back to the surface and become hard to ignore.
I'm really enjoying this series as a whole, though each book can be read as a standalone. I'm interested to see where life takes the rest of the Morgan boys.
