The Clairvoyant Countess

By Dorothy Gilman
The Clairvoyant Countess by Dorothy Gilman digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

In The Clairvoyant Countess, the bestselling author of the beloved Mrs. Pollifax series gives us the mysterious Madame Karitska, who can see things no one else can—including murder.

Madame Karitska has a style all her own—a rare blend of psychic power, an exotic past, and an uncanny gift for common sense. But when a chance encounter with Detective-Lieutenant Pruden of the Police Department catapults her into the midst of a seamier side of life, she must use all her resources to keep danger at bay.

“Dorothy Gilman is one of those authors that we would like to lock in a tower and command to produce a novel at least every three months. To get a new one is to become ecstatic, to finish it is to grieve, and to wait for the next one is torment!”—Chattanooga Times

The Clairvoyant Countess Reviews

3.5
“I’m a fan of Dorothy Gilman’s Mrs. Pollifax series, which my mother used to read. But I haven’t read anything else by Gilman until now. This book introduces us to Madame Karitska, a psychic, and her friend Detective Pruden as well as an assortment of other characters. The book is fun and is more of a collection of related vignettes and short stories or “episodes “ than a novel. It was quirky and I enjoyed it as a light palette cleanser. It wasn’t of the same caliber as Mrs. Pollifax, but a crime-solving countess who works as a clairvoyant from a cheap apartment and solves crimes on the side is whacky and fun.”
“A charming short novel. It was a story about the clairvoyant and a lieutenant working together to solve cases. The lieutenant was very skeptical in the beginning, however, with gentle persistence the clairvoyant won him over. A light read.”
