The Chase by Janet Evanovich & Lee Goldberg digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

Janet Evanovich and Lee Goldberg, bestselling authors of The Heist, return in this action-packed, exciting adventure featuring master con artist Nicolas Fox and die-hard FBI agent Kate O’Hare. And this time around, things go from hot to nuclear when government secrets are on the line.

Internationally renowned thief and con artist Nicolas Fox is famous for running elaborate and daring scams. His greatest con of all: convincing the FBI to team him up with the only person who has ever caught him, and the only woman to ever capture his attention, Special Agent Kate O’Hare. Together they’ll go undercover to swindle and catch the world’s most wanted—and untouchable—criminals.

Their newest target is Carter Grove, a former White House chief of staff and the ruthless leader of a private security agency. Grove has stolen a rare Chinese artifact from the Smithsonian, a crime that will torpedo U.S. relations with China if it ever becomes public. Nick and Kate must work under the radar—and against the clock—to devise a plan to steal the piece back. Confronting Grove’s elite assassins, Nick and Kate rely on the skills of their ragtag crew, including a flamboyant actor, a Geek Squad techie, and a band of AARP-card-carrying mercenaries led by none other than Kate’s dad.

A daring heist and a deadly chase lead Nick and Kate from Washington, D.C., to Shanghai, from the highlands of Scotland to the underbelly of Montreal. But it’ll take more than death threats, trained henchmen, sleepless nights, and the fate of a dynasty’s priceless heirloom to outsmart Fox and O’Hare.

BONUS: This edition includes an excerpt from Janet Evanovich and Lee Goldberg's The Job.

The Chase Reviews

3.5
“I absolutely love this series it is so good and so much fun to listen too the narrator isn't boring or too over the top he just reads the books so well and I think that's part of the reason why I enjoy listening to this series instead of physically reading it. I liked this book so much more than the first one, in this book Kate and Nick have to steal some paintings and some art from this man who runs a sort of black opps company and then they attempt to arrest him (I honestly don't think he's gone I think he will pop up again as the series goes on). I think the reason that I enjoyed this book more than I did the first one was because the characters are established we the reader know who Kate and Nick are we know that Kate is a FBI agent we know Nick is a con man we know they work together that's what makes this so much more enjoyable (I do really like the first book and clearly you should read the first book before moving on to the next). I absolutely adore Kate and Nicks relationship they have sort of early 2000's cop show couple dynamic (like for example Tony and ziva or castle and Beckett) and the slow burn is amazing however it is killing me I just want them to be together already because they just fit so well together. I will admit that this book is a bit dated when it comes to politics and some of the stuff being said in the book but it's nothing too major it's still a really good book. The main character Kate really reminds me of Kenzie from NCIS Lal just thought I'd throw that in there. If you are a fan of heist movies or books definitely give this one a try because it is quite addictive and enjoyable to read.”
