The Catch No One Wants

The CATCH Series, Book One - The "CATCH" No One Wants—is the story about Veronica Dawson's wrong choices in men. It highlights the unusual fishing trip her father Greyson Dawson uses to give her direction in finding the husband she deserves.

Greyson notices that his 32-year-old daughter Veronica, a successful millennial, is obsessed with getting married. She has already missed her original goal… to be a wife by thirty. Devising ways to make her marriage dream come true, Veronica searches for potential husbands in the wrong places, while her father Greyson watches those men mistreat his daughter.

There is nothing more frustrating for a father than to see his daughter's obsession with getting married in a frantic search for a husband; leaving a trail of hurt and brokenness. Frustrated, Greyson seeks God's direction. Greyson's answered prayers prompt him to use what he knows, and Greyson is an expert fisher.

He invites Veronica on a two-day fishing trip, where he has planned a one-on-one intervention. Cherishing her childhood memories of fishing with her dad, Veronica agrees to join her father on the trip and looks forward to spending this time with him. She does not know that her dad is on a mission to rescue her, through their Christian faith and teaching about intentional dating. 

 As a seasoned fisher, Greyson sees the behavioral similarities between men and fish, so he invents five metaphorical stories he shares with his daughter on their trip. Four stories represent the men she has dated: the Catfish, who enjoys hanging around garbage, the Salmon who does not want to get caught, the Sturgeon who likes to nibble, & the Pufferfish, who is beautiful until agitated—all highlight the dating mistakes his daughter continues making even now. While the fifth story—the Goldfish, represents the husband she deserves… the man God has chosen just for her. He is "The CATCH No One Wants," and he is standing right in front of her.
