“This was a unique little snippet of European history. I don’t know much about the Turkish empire or events outside of the Western European point of view.
As I got to the end of the book it made me think of Bonnie Prince Charlie and his life in exile, how he was used as a political pawn in the Catholic Church and never got what he needed.
This is probably a story that was repeated again and again in medieval history with political power struggles that could affect nations.
I would have liked to have seen Cem’s perspective in here but since this is a reflective story we don’t get it.
