The Call of Cthulhu
ByPublisher Description
The Call of Cthulhu is a science fiction short story by American writer H. P. Lovecraft. In it, the narrator recounts a sequence of portentous discoveries which indicate that a vast, ancient cosmic pantheon of supernatural deities with the power to erase humankind is awakening after a long slumber. Credited with inspiring the Cthulhu Mythos, a kind of literary genre unto itself that expands upon the universe set forth in The Call of Chtulhu, this 1926 short story, first published in Weird Tales Magazine, is seen as one of Lovecraft's most important and influential works.

“This was a nice quick read, I probably would have enjoyed it more during spooky season. Although it wasn't truly scary at all, I can see the attempts to build suspense and to scare the reader and I would describe parts of it as eerie. I have an interest in eldritch terrors and so, reading about Cthulhu was quite enjoyable for me. Despite that, I found the book itself to be a bit confusing and "mid". I also hated the use of racism in the story, but understand that the book was written in 1926 and so I guess it was unfortunately "to be expected" - still, it felt wrong and unpleasant to read about it. 🐙😵💫📚”
