“I’m going to be honest; I didn’t really connect with the first book in the series. I found the plot a bit convoluted (which I bet was more of a me issue than a writing issue), and I’m sure I exasperated the issue by waiting so long to pick up the sequel. But I was so pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this one. I found the plot easier to follow and thought it was much more compelling. I really enjoyed the main character. She was a delight to follow, and I really enjoyed how Jemisin built the world through a blind character’s perspective. Honestly just such a brilliant read and I’ve got the next one on hold already.”
