“I thought the message in this book was very powerful and very relevant today. It is very easy to become complacent, the rights that exist one moment can easily be lost the next, by simply turning a blind eye or being ignorant of the world around you. In the case of Bruno, his innocence and the fear of his father, the soldiers and being that the truth was being held from him prevented him from seeing the truth or even ask questions.
We see that complacency everywhere we look today, even historically many ordinary Germans refused to accept the truth of what was happening and there was plenty of propaganda showcasing that these camps were family friendly.
For that reason, I thought the book was powerful, sad and thought provoking.”
