The Bookseller

By Tim Sullivan
The Bookseller by Tim Sullivan digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

“One of the most iconic British fictional detectives of the 21st century.”—Daily Mail

Read enough, and you’ll learn how to get away with murder

Detective Sergeant George Cross has a knack for dismissing red herrings: He goes by the cold hard facts, and nothing else. But with a concerning development in his personal life, Cross is hopelessly distracted. He needs to rely on those around him: an entirely foreign concept.

When the body of a bookseller is discovered lying in a pool of blood in his Bristol bookshop, the police have one question: How did the man meet such a violent, murderous end in this peaceful place?

Bookselling may be a quiet profession, but it's full of ambitious characters who know the value of a rare book and the importance of careful plotting. With their extensive reading, they might know enough to get away with murder. But will book learning be enough to fool the tenacious DS George Cross?

The Bookseller Reviews

3.5
“My first Tim Sullivan / DS Cross mystery, the 7th in the series, and just fine to start with. I guessed the killer and motive on p 302 of 357, which is just what i want from a procedural. The gross stuff happens off screen, but there’s acknowledgement of life’s messiness on the page. I look forward to reading another one, though not The Cyclist, which I read the first 10 pages of and put down.”
Beaming Face with Smiling Eyes“I love the George Cross character more and more with every book I read from this series! 🥰 In this installment, George works to solve the murder of a bookseller in their bookshop, while dealing with a concerning matter in his personal life. George is such an endearing character and I love seeing him adjust to having his mother back in his life and taking care of Raymond! Such a great series and I’m looking forward to reading The Tailor in a couple months! Cannot recommend these books enough! 👏 Thank you partner Atlantic Crime for the gifted advance reader copy and the eARC in exchange for my honest review! ❤️”
