“All the elements of a fantastic read are here: a bibliophile protagonist, a mystery, ancient forgeries, and a love story. The author writes from his own personal experience in the antiquarian book business which lends an authenticity to the novel. It also bounces between three time periods which added some depth to the novel.
However, it was hard at times to follow the plot with the amount of names, timelines, and connections involved. It was a slow burn with a much too swift conclusion, some of the characters fell flat and the dialogue was unrealistic at times, and there were a few too many improbable coincidences in my opinion.
I enjoyed the love story aspect, learning about book restoration, and the small cliffhangers that kept me pushing forward in the book.”

“I enjoyed this book, the story was sweet and interesting and the ending was pleasing. I found the jumping about in timelines with different characters confusing, especially when two of the main characters names started with a P, but overall I liked the way the different timelines explained eachother and the overall story was an enjoyable one.”About Charlie Lovett
Charlie Lovett is a writer, teacher, and playwright whose plays for children have been seen in more than three thousand productions worldwide. He served for more than a decade as writer in residence at Summit School in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He is a former antiquarian bookseller, and he has collected rare books and other materials related to Lewis Carroll for more than twenty-five years. He and his wife, Janice, split their time between Winston-Salem and Kingham, Oxfordshire.
