The Bachelor Baker Reviews

Slightly Smiling Face“This was a perfect little accompaniment for a road trip today. Easy read, likeable, predictable-yet-interesting story. Glad I thought to grab #3 in the series on my way out the door this morning! (Still a couple hours of light left in this road trip, lol.)”
“I thought it was an ok read. The heroine gets a grant to open her own bakery (her lifelong dream) in the town of Bygone, Kansas. The hero, recently laid off from his job, was denied a grant to open his own mechanic shop. So of course he's a bit resentful to the out-of-towners who did get approved. Because he has no other choice he ends up working at the bakery. I was annoyed with the heroine. Every time he suggested something she rubbed in the fact that it was her bakery. Hero is struggling with feelings of inadequacy because he wants to have a family but can't support one with what he makes, so her rubbing it in was salt on the wound. So hero decides he needs something that can pay more so he can save enough to open his shop. This is were the book lost a star, the heroine gets hurt because she thinks that if the hero pursues another career it means that he doesn't care about her or her dream. She never, not once, thought, cared, or asked about his dreams. I think it's important to share that with someone you want to have a family with. As with many romances, a lot of hurt feelings would have been avoided if they had sat down and discussed things. Will I read another book by this author? Maybe, it wasn't terrible but it wasn't good enough to make it stand out from the other books I've read this year.”
