“AWE intrigued me, so I thought I’d give this audible book a listen. It’s easy to listen to and narrated well. You can feel the passion and belief through the words that the author has for this practise and the enthusiasm to encourage the listeners to change their lives for the better and expand that out to others with the practise too.
Although I have finished the book, I haven’t actually tried AWE. I journal and certainly plan on implementing this, to see how different it feels in comparison to what I do already. I can imagine it’s a powerful practise.
Honestly, it would feel wrong to say anymore than this, until I’ve committed to giving it a go. When I have, I just may bump up my rating, but that’s no reflection on the book, it’s purely that I haven’t practised it yet.”
“if you just read this for the how-to of starting your funky new journalling practice, this book is fine. definitely too long but fine.
if you're looking for any further meaning beyond that, then this book is mostly a poorly edited mess with tons of ads for the author's podcast (SO much is said about the podcast) and his other programs in it. his thoughts on the pandemic felt tone deaf, especially when a) it's still going on, b) millions of people died, and c) most people didn't and still don't have the luxury of using this time to self-reflect in their notebooks. and i was definitely rolling my eyes at manifesting wealth but that's another can of worms i won't open, mr. yellow tesla. guess this is what i get for reading woowoo self-help books again lmao.
sidenote: one of these 2 stars is because this is probably the only book where the phrase "everything good happened while living in new jersey" is used unironically.”
