“The side characters lowkey carried the whole book. I just wish the stakes were higher; like the first 70–80% had such a slow but strong buildup but the ending didn’t hit as hard and was a lot less impactful than what i wanted/expected after 2 whole books.
Also, I nearly lost it every time I read “There she is.” Once was cute, twice was fine, three times was bearable but pushing it, but almost every chapter!??!?
I just couldn’t 🙏🏻
Overall though the premise and world building were actually really interesting. I just wish the main characters had way more personality to keep up it.
Will probably continue reading since i loved Mische and Septimus, hopefully their books fair better.”
