The Andromeda Strain

By Michael Crichton
The Andromeda Strain by Michael Crichton digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

From the author of Jurassic Park, Timeline, and Sphere comes a captivating thriller about a deadly extraterrestrial microorganism, which threatens to annihilate human life.

Five prominent biophysicists have warned the United States government that sterilization procedures for returning space probes may be inadequate to guarantee uncontaminated re-entry to the atmosphere. Two years later, a probe satellite falls to the earth and lands in a desolate region of northeastern Arizona. Nearby, in the town of Piedmont, bodies lie heaped and flung across the ground, faces locked in frozen surprise. What could cause such shock and fear? The terror has begun, and there is no telling where it will end.

“I really enjoyed this. It kept me wondering what was gonna happen next how we’re gonna get to certain things also, it’s on the shorter side so something you can get done relatively quickly if you really wanted to”
“I love a good Michael Crichton novel but this one was a little underwhelming. Great story but a little predictable.”
Surprised Face with Open Mouth“Little 4 1/2 hour read- positively tore through this one. As someone with a bit of a background in biology and medical science it was super engaging. Written with some dense scientific ideas and concepts but made understandable for the layperson. Finished up rather abruptly and kind of unsatisfyingly. Would have been an easy 4.5 stars otherwise! Fascinating concept and some really good sci fi bones. Still worth a read, but had kind of a Dexter level "that's it?" of an ending.”
