Great book that clearly shows how the alpha female runs the place, and how their female-ness is essential to the axis the world of wolves turns on.”

“Loved this one. The way wolves live are very interesting and keep you wanting to read more. The author writes like their lives are something out of a fantasy or fairytale book. There's heroism, fighting, found family, fated mates, redemption, love, and loss...literally everything readers want and here it is in these book about real life wolves. Wolf 06 and her daughter 926 where some impressive wolves but not surprising since they were descended from 21 and 42.
It is really interesting to read about the females leading the pack. The males hunt all the time which is very important and key to the packs survival while the females make the important decisions of where to den (which is hands down the most important decision a pack has), who she wants to breed with, she even decides who eats first after the hunts (when she is no longer pregnant). Its just really interesting to see these dynamics and to realize the quote from Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book, "For the strength of the pack is the wolf, and the strength of the wolf is the pack" is so accurate its ridiculous.
Such a good series, I really wish that when I was younger I could have gone and seen these incredible wolves mentioned but I guess ill just have to go and see their descendants, after all if these books proved anything it that their strength is in their blood.”

About Rick McIntyre
Rick McIntyre has spent more time observing and documenting wolves in the wild than any other person. A retired National Park ranger, McIntyre has spent more than forty years watching wolves in America’s national parks, twenty-five of those years in Yellowstone, where he has accumulated over 100,000 wolf sightings, worked on the Yellowstone Wolf Reintroduction Project, and educated the public about the park’s wolves. He lives in Silver Gate, Montana.
