A multigenerational, magical realism story of the witches living in Gilded Age New York.
There are a lot of elements in this that I really enjoyed; interesting historical details, using magic for good and evil, complex family dynamics, and a FMC that knows what she wants. This also highlights what women (still!) deal with when it comes to social norms, misogyny and sexism.
That said, there’s a lot of world building and information to get through before the storyline picked up momentum. I’ve read two other books by Morgan and while I liked this one, it wasn’t as good as her others.
