As for the text itself, Virgil’s Roman epic remains to be an interesting study: at once a mythical origin story and a reflection of the values and ambitions of Augustus Caesar’s era. I can’t help but compare it to the Homeric epics, given how much it draws from them, yet its exploration of war, empire, and the cost of conquest remains a compelling examination even today—perhaps all the more so in light of current events.”
