Publisher Description

From the New York Times bestselling author of the Reese Witherspoon Book Club Pick Seven Days in June comes a hot and hilarious borough-crossed love story about a Manhattan beauty editor, a Brooklyn writer, and the attraction that takes them by storm.

Billie Burke is smart, endlessly driven, and fabulous—it’s no accident she landed a job as the beauty editor at the world’s leading fashion magazine. Caught in a whirlwind of long office hours and fashion industry party-hopping, she hasn’t had time to focus on her nonexistent love life. Instead, she’s been living vicariously through her friends.

Then she meets Jay Lane, a gorgeous up-and-coming Brooklyn writer who pretty much knocks her right out of her stilettos. Soon Billie finds herself doing things with Jay in broad daylight that she’s never even dared to think about in the privacy of her own head. In no time at all she’s absolutely addicted to an affair that’s as crazy and seductive as New York itself. But there’s a lot she doesn’t know about Jay, whose rough past seems determined to start creeping back into their present....

“Spicy!! 🥵 I appreciated that Billie found a way to balance both work and love. I wish there would have been an epilogue. I like how everyone got a happy ending though!”
Surprised Face with Open Mouth“The Accidental Diva by Tia Williams tells the story of Billie Burke, a 29-year-old beauty editor in New York City who seems to have everything: a thriving career, a glamorous lifestyle, and a close-knit group of friends known as the "Beauty Posse." But her carefully curated world is thrown into disarray when she meets Jay, a rebellious graffiti artist with a carefree and unconventional outlook on life. Their whirlwind romance pushes Billie to face her insecurities, step beyond her comfort zone, and reconsider what she truly wants from love, life, and herself. As their relationship grows, Billie is forced to navigate the cultural and personal divides between their worlds while juggling her career and her evolving sense of identity. Set in the early 2000s, the novel captures the essence of that era, complete with hip-hop culture, Jimmy Choo heels, and the glitzy world of magazine publishing. While the insta-love trope isn’t always my favorite, Tia Williams’s storytelling made it easy to appreciate Billie and Jay’s chemistry. That said, reading this as someone older, I found myself slightly frustrated with Jay’s immaturity and the early 20s relationship “games” that felt more relatable back then. If I had read this book in my 20s, I’m sure I would have adored Jay, but now, his secrets and unnecessary drama come off as a bit exasperating. Still, the story charmed me, and once I embraced the mindset of my younger, more idealistic self, I could appreciate this heartfelt tale of first love, personal growth, and finding beauty in imperfection. It’s a nostalgic and entertaining read that will resonate differently depending on where you are in life.”
Expressionless Face“I have so many mixed feelings about this book. Getting into it was super hard, I hated the third person point of view, and I am fully convinced that this is the kind of couple that absolutely will not last after the end of the book. I know Billie had never been in a relationship before and that she was just so in love. But girl stand the fuck up. He walked all over her for 90% of their one month long relationship. She finally chose herself and I was so pumped but Jay needs to be knocked down a peg. Jay literally thinks he is better than Billie and that she is dumb. I truly don't think he even has that much respect for her. She is trying to bring up things they have in common and he's just like "it's cute that she thinks she understands". He is so condescending and thinks he's better than her when honestly he's just a self absorbed asshole. I think i would have been happier if it ended with them not being together and her building a life in Paris. Which hurts as someone who loves love.”
