“This is basically a PG 13+ Bridgerton book, but a bit more serious. It's more like Bridgerton mixed with Downton Abbey.
Essentially, Sophia is boring, and she falls for Atticus, who is also boring but can be witty on occasion.
The backstory is that Sophia ran away from her life because people thought she murdered her husband, and Atticus went to jail for three days for something less than memorable. Atticus is the bastard son of a Duke who still has power and money, and Sophia is a commoner who ends up being hired by him as a maid.
He talks about his parents, a lot. She talks about her old friends who she gets Atticus to hire.
Honestly, it's all very boring and run of the mill, but it's not a bad book. I just won't remember reading it, a bit how I don't remember what happens in the first few episodes of Downton Abbey.”
