Publisher Description

When secrets are forced into the light, will the bonds between Claire, Lizzy, and Matt be enough to keep everything from falling apart?

Life changes for Lizzy Swift when Claire Reynolds transfers to the Argyll School in their senior year. Claire is all Lizzy is not—reckless, independent, effortlessly cool. Claire introduces Lizzy to downtown Philadelphia—its clubs, parties, and vibrant art scene, and helps her get together with Matt, who Lizzy’s been crushing on for years. Soon Lizzy’s once-quiet life is full of adventure and passion. But Lizzy’s grades are slipping, and her new relationships are complicated. Sometimes Lizzy feels that she and Matt are soul mates, but other times he holds back from her. Claire can be moody and evasive, too. Lizzy knows her boyfriend and best friend are hiding things from her. Can what they have together last when the truth comes out?

“Sigh. I always hate it when authors write decent YA fiction and forget to set it today - there was no reason to keep this set in the late 80s (except for the author "writing what she knows"). I'm not seeing a lot of my teens responding well to the 80s timeframe when there's a vaguely contemporary plot. And figuring out which school this was wasn't difficult, another problem for me (please - be creative! create a whole new school in a new place!!). ARC provided by publisher.”
“Tell Me No Lies by Adele Griffin Read this if you liked the books: She’s Too Pretty To Burn by Wendy Heard ✨ Outlawed by Anna North ✨ One Of Us Is Lying by Karen McManus So, I actually borrowed this from the Library by mistake. I was trying to borrow Tell Me Lies by Carola Loverling LOL. I did end up enjoying this YA novel. It was a really quick read and dives into all kinds of feelings and frustrations of growing up. It is set in the 80’s, so that is always fun. It actually deals with a lot of heavy topics relating to sex: like sexual orientation, virginity, and statutory rape. Quick summary: Lizzy has always felt like the nerd in high school. Her and her 2 best friends never go to the cool parties, etc. But, she eventually starts dating cool guy Matt, and befriends mysterious Claire. But is this new life all it’s cracked up to be?”
