Publisher Description

A dark fairy-tale retelling of Tam Lin

In Roman-occupied Scotland, a slave on the run should fear soldiers, wolves, and the coming winter.

Margusa fears something else — herself.

When she kills her master and flees into the wilds of Caledonia, survival seems impossible… until a mysterious warrior appears. He serves an Elf Queen, rides a ghost-white horse, and is bound by magic he cannot escape.

Tam Lin should be her captor.
Instead, he becomes her protector.

But loving him means stepping into a world of gods, enchantments, and ancient bargains — and when the Queen finally calls her knight home, Margusa must face a terrible truth:

To save the man she loves, she must hold on to him even as he becomes a monster.

A haunting retelling of the classic Scottish ballad, Take My Monsters is a story of freedom, devotion, and the courage to love what is broken — including yourself.

Smiling Face with Heart-Eyes“This is a retelling of the Roman story of “Tam Lin”. In this story our heroine is a Greek slave who is struggling with with her own monster (happens to be her owner). She is trying to prove that she is fit to help Tam Lin defeat his monster. Aesir steps in to help her and gives her a bit of extra help in order for her to help Tam Lin defeat his monster. The twists and turns in this story and the changes from the original story are nice to read and bring a refreshing read to an old story. Readers new and old to the story of “Tam Lin” will enjoy this short easy read for sure. This is actually a fun little read and honestly I can say that anyone who reads this will enjoy meeting these character's again in C. Gockel's full length novel's “I Bring the Fire” series. And if you haven't started the “I Bring the Fire” series then you need to start here and then go read that series it is such a great read. This version of Loki is so much fun. You will really enjoy these reads.”
