Publisher Description
“Take Glee, toss it in Lincoln Center, shake out the bizarre stereotypes and you get Take a Bow . . . one page turner that has us yearning for an encore.” —MTV’s Hollywood Crush
From the award-winning author of Prom & Prejudice and Past Perfect Life comes a story of all the drama and comedy of four friends who grow into themselves at a performing arts high school.
Emme, Sophie, Ethan, and Carter are getting ready for their Senior Showcase recital, where the pressure is on to appeal to colleges, dance academies, and professionals in show business. For Sophie, a singer, it’s been great to be friends with Emme, who composes songs for her, and to date Carter, soap opera heartthrob who gets plenty of press coverage. Emme and Ethan have been in a band together through all four years of school, but wonder if they could be more than just friends and bandmates. Carter has been acting since he was a baby, and isn’t sure how to admit that he’d rather paint than perform. The Senior Showcase is going to make or break each of the four, in a funny, touching, spectacular finale that only Elizabeth Eulberg could perform.
“This fresh, fun, fabulous read will have you cheering for new beginnings. Five shiny gold stars!” —Susane Colasanti, bestselling author of the City Love series
“The cutthroat competitiveness is balanced by quiet, thoughtful moments of soul-searching regarding stardom, the creative process, and doing and sharing what they love. Readers who love seeing underdogs come out ahead will be delighted with the conclusion.” —Publishers Weekly
“Realistic dialogue and a healthy dose of teen angst keep the pages turning.” —Kirkus Reviews

“I originally read this in 2018 and completely forgot about it. I enjoyed it more this time around. However, it still had it flaws.
There are four main characters in this book, and I really loved two of them, Emme and Carter. Their stories and character arcs were so compelling, and I genuinely liked them. I adored the friendship between the two characters, as well as the friendship Emme has with her band. It was beautiful. Unfortunately, the other two, Ethan and Sophie, weren't nearly as cool. Sophie was just obnoxious and selfish, practically Rachel Berry incarnate; I do have to give her credit though, for while I hated her, her chapters certainly were interesting. Ethan was just boring and kind of irritating, and his romance was probably my least favorite part of the book.
All in all, there were some great characters and plot points, but there were also some boring parts and characters I hated, so I can only rate this 3 stars.”

“I usually don’t love books set in high school where the drama is high and mostly irrelevant to my life. However, the diversity of the changing points of view (each chapter told by a different person) kept it fresh and kept me interested. I loved watching Emme grow as a character—she seemed to be the main protagonist even though other characters got equal share of telling the story. The romance was definitely cute—I’m a sucker for the best friend who turns out to be the boyfriend. I also liked the use of flashbacks—I thought they were cleverly done, kept the story from going stagnant, and answered background questions that popped up in my head.”
