I have so many thoughts and yet I’m also utterly speechless. This duology was like nothing I have ever read. I tried to put off finishing this book because I was not remotely ready to leave the characters and this world behind. Voidwalker was so incredible that I immediately booked myself in for an Aisinay tattoo. Sunsplitter somehow topped what was already perfection in so many ways. The ending was beautiful. The world is a masterpiece. I truly cannot quite put into words how much I have adored this duology. To see multiple bisexual characters get the ending they deserve isn’t something you get to see very often in books, but it’s here.To the world of the season-locked planes and all those places reachable by shards: yzi vali yzru💜

Who this is for/recommendations:
Obviously, if you’ve read Voidwalker then you already know this is for you. But for anyone who hasn’t, this is for you if:
* You love a fiesty FMC
* You want a MMC who is non-human, and is kind of like a grumpy wet cat at times.
* You want a duology that will stay in your brain forever more.
* You are intrigued by the concept of a Voidhorse that has scales.
* You like pretty skies and auroras.

“Sunsplitter was a fun follow up to a world I already loved! I enjoyed learning more about the different family symbols, the history behind them, and getting a better look at how the new society works. The new lore drops are some of my favorite parts of fantasy.
The family/relationship dynamics again stand out for me the most. How Fi and Antal connect together and Antal working through his longing to be around your own people and finding connection where you least expect it felt genuine. It took me a little bit to get into with the new dynamic of characters but there were also some lighter moments with those characters that balanced everything out for me. Also, the ongoing argument over pet names had me cheesing heavy 😂 .
I also thought the character voices were distinct and stayed true to them in all situations, especially Fi. Everyone felt like themselves, which made the relationships easy to get invested in.
I will say some of the emotional drama towards the end felt telegraphed at times for me. It worked for the plot though so I get it. There were also a few spicy scenes that were are out of my normal comfort zone, but I thought they were well written and fit naturally into the story! The fight scenes were fun too, without feeling like they were overdone or confusing!
I do wish I got more lore reveals, but maybe that’s means a prequel? 👀
Overall, I’d give this a 4.5 out of 5.
