“Exceeded expectations! Started fast-paced and nothing special. Seemed unbelievable for a 17-18 year old strategist best of her time but then things make sense when the tone completely shifts. Even though I enjoyed and didn’t expect the tone shifts, the pacing definitely slowed way down, especially the last third of the book. The twists and turns were actually pretty unpredictable and believable, not necessarily just for shock value.
I really didn’t get much of the relationship with Crow. Supposed to be enemies/rivals to lovers/friends?? But that wasn’t really established or developed, he was kind of lame and she just did her thing. I wish there was more exploration with Ren and Zephyr 😫. There was so much more love and chemistry there than with Crow.
Writing is the pretty easy to read and unexpectedly really gripped me, even though it sometimes reminded me that this is a YA book 🙃”
