At the worst dive bar in town, Eddie meets Paige, someone who has pulled off a freaking miracle. She escaped Hawkins and built a wickedly cool life for herself working for a record producer in Los Angeles. Not only is she the definition of a badass—with killer taste in music—but she might also be the only person who actually appreciates Eddie as the bard he is instead of as the devil incarnate. But the best thing? She’s offering him a chance to make something of himself, and all he needs to do is get her a demo tape of Corroded Coffin’s best songs.
Just one problem: Recording costs money. Money Eddie doesn’t have. But he’s willing to do whatever it takes, even if that means relying on his dad. Al Munson has just stumbled back into Eddie’s life with another dubious scheme up his sleeve, and yet Eddie knows this is his only option to make enough dough in enough time. It’s a risk, but if it pays off he will finally have a one-way ticket out of Hawkins.

“O livro é bom e divertido de ler, gostei dos personagens. Sinceramente, não sei dizer se o Eddie tá igual ao da série; pra mim, são dois personagens que são os mesmos, mas em duas visões diferentes (o que literalmente são). Não consigo ver ele no livro e na obra exatamente como a mesma pessoa. Gostei da adição da Ronnie, e amei a Paige.
O livro é ok, não é grande coisa. Tem várias coisas que são puro poder do roteiro que deixou funcionar (o plano do Munson sênior), mas consegui relevar tudo isso durante o livro até chegar no capítulo 32 e, mais especificamente, no 33. Gosto do Eddie ficando pra ajudar e não sendo um bundão (apesar que, se fosse eu, definitivamente teria metido o pé), mas sei lá, também não entendi por que a Ronnie ficou brava com o Eddie por querer fazer o teste — mó bagunça.
O final foi extremamente forçado pro fim não interferir na história da série, porque claramente era pra ter dado certo e ele meter o pé. Me deixou muito puta ele brigando com a Paige do nada, tipo???. A conversa com a Ronnie no final foi obviamente só pra não deixar isso aberto. O último capítulo foi breguíssimo, ele defendendo o Will; tipo, o Will e o Jonathan só apareceram pra marcar presença.
No fim, não tirei lição nenhuma do livro além do que a gente já aprende com o Eddie na série. E, como eu disse, o livro é okay, não é grande coisa, mas se não fosse preso à série poderia ter tido um final melhor, mais satisfatório.
