Publisher Description

OPTIONED FOR TELEVISION by Amazon MGM Studios

From the publisher who brought you Fourth Wing comes your next romantasy obsession...

For nineteen-year-old Poet Graves, New Manhattan has always promised safety—if she obeys. Raised within the ruling Houses and betrothed to a powerful heir, she enters Amery Academy knowing her future has already been decided.

But Amery is nothing like she imagined. Its trials are brutal, its loyalties conditional, and its rules designed to expose weakness. As Poet struggles to survive, she must hide the truth that could get her executed: the storms don’t fear her—they answer back.

When a dangerous outsider from beyond the city walls enters the academy, Poet is drawn to him despite everything she’s been taught to believe. He threatens the life she’s been promised. And choosing him could cost her not just her future, but her freedom.

A gripping dystopian romance filled with forbidden power, ruthless challenges, and a heroine who refuses to burn quietly—perfect for fans of Divergent and The Hunger Games.

Includes one bonus scene from the Hero's POV

The Storm Breaker trilogy is best enjoyed in order.

Storm Breaker Reviews

4.0
“This reminded me a lot of Divergent. I did think the worldbuilding was a bit thin, and one character completely changed in a way that felt kind of strange. But the last 10% was super exciting and has me really curious about the next book. 3.75⭐️”
“I’m sad I didn’t enjoy this more. The premise was so promising, but it really struggled to grab me. Review to come!”
“First of all, Nisha J. Tuli has the BEST opening sentences. But the rest of the book was just as good. An excellent mix of dystopian and romance. Some of the plot beats were a little predictable, but this still had all the things I love”
“Stormbreaker gets 4.5 stars from me. Think Fourth Wing meets Crescent City meets Divergent — an academy setting, warhouses, dystopian politics, and a modern post-apocalyptic world with cell phones and all. Such a fun combination, and honestly, it worked really well for me. The beginning started a little slow at times, and I wasn’t completely hooked right away. But once this story picked up? It was action after action after action. Nisha J. Tuli absolutely knows how to raise the stakes and keep you turning pages. I already loved her from the Trial of the Sun Queen series, and this just confirmed for me that she’s an auto-read author. The world was immersive, the pacing in the second half was intense, and I genuinely had such a good time reading this. The only reason this wasn’t a full 5 stars for me is honestly selfish: I wanted more answers by the end, and instead I was left with so many questions. But at least the next book is apparently coming out in September, so thankfully the wait won’t be too painful. If you like YA dystopian fantasy with high stakes, academy vibes, action, and a modern twist, I 100% recommend this one.”
“I did enjoy parts of the story, and I’ll definitely continue to the second book. I want to start with the things I wasn’t super happy with, then end on the positives. The book kind of rushed through the year at the school without revealing much about the shield until the very end, so I was a little disappointed we didn’t uncover more. I was also frustrated that Rook never really got to explain everything he knows. I wish the pacing had been stronger too because it felt like not a ton happened until maybe the last 15 chapters. I also think I just dislike the trope where the main character is isolated except for the MMC and a small group of friends. Parts of this book honestly felt really sad because Poet tried sooo hard, and it seemed like she was constantly being told she was wrong or abandoning her family no matter what she did. Trinity. That’s all I’m going to say. All of Poet’s childhood friends and even her parents were awful to her. Then the people in the new house literally threw her down the stairs, and somehow no one ever really cared about Poet. Frustrating!!! Honestly, shoutout to Knox’s mom. Also… what was going on with that girl from the Hollow? I really wish we’d gotten more answers about everything. Poet also drove me a little crazy at the end. I understand being upset with Rook because he kept things from her, but he’d also been pretty honest about the fact that he was hiding things. I totally get her feelings about Reign, but my god, time and place. The fact that she froze while they were literally being chased drove me nuts. You saw the shield take your brother, so he’s probably alive and being experimented on, and instead of focusing on getting to safety she just kept spiraling about Rook lying. I wanted to shake her and yell, “Girl, survive first and ask questions later!” That being said, I really did love Poet. I felt such a kinship with her. She was constantly trying to make everyone happy while also getting walked all over and ending up miserable herself. She tried so hard with her friends and parents, and they all abandoned her while somehow making her feel like she was the problem. I genuinely just wanted to hug her. I loved seeing her finally do things for herself and continue getting back up every single time people knocked her down. I loved Domino and Journey, and I’m so glad Poet finally got to experience what real friendships feel like. And Rook!!! Oh my god, the tension was SO good. I loved him. I also understood why he struggled to let her in considering she was the daughter of someone so high up in New Manhattan. I do think he should’ve told her more because I honestly think Poet would’ve listened. But him seeing her stuffed animal!!! Yeah. That got me <3”
