Star Wars: The High Republic: Out of the Shadows Reviews

3.0
“This book isn't nearly as heavy (tone wise) as the previous novel so it was a nice break before the heartbreak continues. My favorite part of this book was being able to catch back up with Vernestra and Imiri, who we had only really seen in the middle grades books up until now, and getting to reconnect with Reath who I really missed in the past few books. UPDATE: Upon second read, I lowered the rating from a 4.75... This is a fine book but written in a way that really screams "YA". Also... I really *really* dislike Jordana and Sil and that wasn't helped by the lack-luster narration of the audiobook.”
“This book was my least favorite of the High Republic books I’ve read so far, this being said it was far from being a book I didn’t enjoy. I think I missed the action and I wished there was more but in this book I did love the characters. Vernestra continues to make me laugh and I relate to her in a lot of ways, I liked the exploration of the hardships of her being so young and having so much responsibility. This book, while not my favorite, was still a good one.”
“For anyone considering reading this while going through The High Republic era. This book is the almost literal definition of a filler episode. Very little things happen with any real consequence to the series. A lot of characters were added and I personally found it difficult to try and understand them. The Jedi Knight was really interesting and I'd love to see more of her. The pilot, Syl, was also interesting enough. I think my biggest hang up all together is that I listened to the audiobook. Honestly the Voice Actress gets a 1/5⭐ for reading very monotone and not having the ability to make different characters sound different. I wanna reread a physical copy one day and see if that helps me follow the story better.”
