Beaming Face with Smiling Eyes“SPIES, LIES AND ALIBIES | By Natalie Walter’s ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thank you to NetGalley for the advance reader copy. I won’t lie, I picked this up expecting a romance with undercover spy vibes, but it ended up being much more of a spy thriller with a romance running quietly in the background. The mystery and undercover storyline kept me reading. There was always something happening, and I genuinely wanted to know how all the secrets and missions would come together. I enjoyed the way Ben cared for Cybil. Their chemistry was there… I just wanted so much more of it…. Cybil took me while to warm up to. Some of the humour worked, but her constant clumsy moments became a bit repetitive … and I’m just not a fan of a clumsy FMC. My biggest issue was for some reason I expected the romance to be a much bigger focus, especially with the second-chance trope. Instead, it often felt overshadowed by the spy plot, so I never quite got the chemistry I wanted. Overall, this was an enjoyable read. If you love undercover missions, secret identities, and fast-paced action with a little romance on the side, I think you’ll have a great time.”
“Review of ARC and ALC received from NetGalley This book has the perfect amount of plot and romance. All of the characters were really likeable and relatable. I really loved the romance but wanted more of them together. The last couple of chapters really got me sitting at the edge of my seat. The narrators did a perfect job. They really matched the characters’ vibe. I give my thanks to the publisher and to NetGalley for giving me this ARC”
“Spies, Lies, and Alibis is an entertaining blend of romantic comedy, suspense, and second-chance romance. Following childhood friends Cybil and Ben as they reunite and find themselves tangled in an undercover mission to take down a criminal operation, the story delivers both emotional depth and plenty of action. I especially enjoyed the balance between the humor and the suspense. The investigation was layered enough to keep me guessing, yet easy to follow throughout. The dual POV added another dimension to the story, allowing me to connect with both characters and their shared history. The humor was a standout as well. There were several moments that genuinely made me laugh, while the suspenseful scenes kept me fully invested in the outcome. If you enjoy stories that combine action, mystery, and comedy with a touch of romance, this is definitely worth picking up. Thank you, NetGalley for the copy. All opinions are my own.”
