Sona and the Golden Beasts Reviews

4.0
“I absolutely loved this book. The themes of family and friendship ran throughout, weaved within a beautiful tale of fantasy and magic. The Devan people and their magical singing invoked such fabulous images as I read and all the beasts that were found along the way were glorious! I thought the theme of Colonialism was told so well, in such a way that children would understand how it affected both the Malech and Devan people. The way the Malechians rewrote the history of Devia to suit their own purposes and change the narrative of the Devan people was awful to see but rang true. It took a difficult topic and told it in a magical, fantastical way that tugged at my heart strings. I loved the message that there are no inherently bad people just people who make good or bad choices. This was a lovely moral. Thanks to instabooktours for providing me with a copy of this ARC to read and review. I thoroughly enjoyed it!”
“This is my first book that I've read by this author and what a journey it was! The cover is so beautiful and when I read the summary, I just knew I had to read this book! I connected to the main character instantly and loved her love of animals! I'm a massive animal lover myself and as soon as the wolf pup showed up, I couldn't stop smiling! It doesn't take long for secrets to be revealed, I definitely think kids will love this magical middle grade story! If you're in the mood for a magical and mysterious adventure filled with Gods and animals then grab this book! Thank you to the publisher for sending me a proof copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.”
