Publisher Description

THE INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • From the critically-acclaimed author of House of Salt and Sorrows comes a mesmerizing and chilling fairy-talesque novel about Ellerie Downing, a young woman in a small town with monsters lurking in the trees and dark desires hidden in the shadows—in Amity Falls, nothing is more dangerous than a wish come true.

"Unique, enchanting, and haunting."—Brigid Kemmerer, New York Times bestselling author of the Cursebreaker series

“Full of beasts, bargains, and blood, Small Favors is a folk horror tale that feels like a classic but is utterly fresh. Sweet, dark, and complex as wildflower honey.”—Hannah Whitten, New York Times bestselling author of For the Wolf

"A deliciously dark fairy tale filled with bone-chilling horror and breathtaking romance that will keep you turning the pages long into the night."—Kara Thomas, author of The Cheerleaders and That Weekend

“As dark and romantic as it haunting, Small Favors is an eerie fairytale that I couldn’t put down.”—Alexis Henderson, author of The Year of the Witching

Ellerie Downing is waiting for something to happen. Life in isolated Amity Falls, surrounded by an impenetrable forest, has a predictable sameness. Her days are filled with tending to her family's beehives, chasing after her sisters, and dreaming of bigger things while her twin, Samuel, is free to roam as he wishes.

Early town settlers fought off monstrous creatures in the woods, and whispers that the creatures still exist keep the Downings and their neighbors from venturing too far. When some townsfolk go missing on a trip to fetch supplies, a heavy unease settles over the Falls.

Strange activities begin to plague the town, and as the seasons change, it's clear that something is terribly wrong. The creatures are real, and they're offering to fulfill the residents' deepest desires, however grand, for just a small favor. These seemingly trifling demands, however, hide sinister intentions. Soon Ellerie finds herself in a race against time to stop Amity Falls, her family, and the boy she loves from going up in flames.

Slightly Smiling Face“This one started out a little slow for me but once I was able to get into it, I kept wanting to read more! Even now I wish there was a second book already to continue the story of Ellerie Downing. I love the way Erin A. Craig writes. The way she describes the settings really makes it easy for me to picture. I also really like the dark setting in her books as well! This is a Rumpelstiltskin retelling of sorts so it was really interesting to see how she would incorporate things from that fairy tale! Overall, I enjoyed this book and will continue to read her work 🥰”

Smiling Face with Heart-Eyes“For anyone who knows me, it definitely doesn’t come as a surprise that I’m giving this book 5 stars (FOR THE THIRD TIME). I read Small Favors for the first time in 2022 and have been obsessed with it ever since. I’m so grateful I got tovreread my favourite book with my club this year!! A *light* Rumplestiltskin retelling (light meaning that it only takes a few elements from the OG fairy tale) this story explores the importance of thinking before you wish for something, being present for those you love but that you should prioritize yourself, and allowing yourself to fall in love when life is pure chaos. Spooky, chaotic, betrayal, strange deaths, even stranger occurrences, it’s got everything I wanted. I’m not someone who typically likes spooky books - like at ALL - and mystery is not a genre I typically read, so for me to like this entire story means a lot. Of course, no book is for everyone! But it’s still good to give it a shot to build your own opinion on it. If it isn’t for you, then that’s just one more thing you know about yourself 💛”

Smiling Face with Heart-Eyes“Wow! Just wow! I’d give this 6 stars if it was an option!! The beautiful yet suspenseful writing kept me absolutely hooked and each piece of the plot just seemed to weave together beautifully!! And the ending….the amount of times my jaw hit the floor!! So so good!!”
Anxious Face with sweat“I went into this literally not knowing a thing, I thought this was a romance 😶 I am not a fan of scary books and if I knew that beforehand, I am sure I wouldn't have picked it up. I am so glad I did because I really couldn't put this one down. At the beginning it felt a little slow, but once I reached that 50% mark, it only took me three days to finish. The author writes beautifully, specially describing the ambiance, I was in Amity Falls since page one. Loved loved loved it and I will of course be recommending it.”
