Sleep with Slander by Dolores Hitchens & Steph Cha digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

Private eye Jim Sader returns in a hard-hitting hunt for a missing child through the dark corners of sunny southern California

"You're playing with a child's life": The search for a kidnapped boy leads private detective (and ex-alcoholic) Jim Sader through a labyrinth of well-hidden family secrets and into the heart of an elaborate and malevolent deception. With little to go on--a tight-lipped client, an anonymous letter, a mother who is supposed to be dead--Sader must rely on his wits to find the child even as he outraces the demons that dog him. Sleep with a Slander is a novel in the classic hardboiled tradition, tough, compassionate, and tautly told.

Sleep with Slander Reviews

3.5
“I loved this old school private eye mystery written with a woman’s touch.”
“Excellent genre fiction, a big step up from the first Sader book, Sleep with Strangers. Consistently intriguing and entertaining mystery with a Lew Archeresque approach (though the Sader character is less distinctive than Macdonald's gumshoe).”
“This is the second book with private eye Jim Sader after https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/58180035.Sleep_with_Strangers and is even better. A compulsive read, it is not as dated as the previous one and the mystery really pulled me into the story. Sader is hired by a rich man, Gibbings to find a child after he’s received a letter telling him the child is being abused. It’s a twisty tale and Sader is a great, genuine character, very human and makes this an excellent hardboiled thriller.”
