A way to survive.
A way to serve.
A way to save.

Simi prayed to the gods, once. Now she serves them as Mami Wata—a mermaid—collecting the souls of those who die at sea and blessing their journeys back home.

But when a living boy is thrown overboard, Simi goes against an ancient decree and does the unthinkable—she saves his life. And punishment awaits those who dare to defy the gods.

To protect the other Mami Wata, Simi must journey to the Supreme Creator to make amends. But all is not as it seems. There's the boy she rescued, who knows more than he should. And something is shadowing Simi, something that would rather see her fail . . .

Danger lurks at every turn, and as Simi draws closer, she must brave vengeful gods, treacherous lands, and legendary creatures. Because if she fails, she risks not only the fate of all Mami Wata, but also the world as she knows it.

Thumbs Up“This book holds both positive and negatives for me. It is fast paced, action packed, with a side romance that fell a little flat for me.. the author did her research. However, I wish it was more about the sea mythology vs land. (At least that is what I went into this book believing.) The last 25 pages were the most intriguing pages. Except the ending… what an abrupt stop. Not sure if I would continue the series, but overall, it was decent for me.”

Slightly Smiling Face“I absolutely loved this book and hate that it took me so long to pick it up from my shelf. It’s a deep story with elements of mermaids, mythology and a fantasy twist on the real world. Full of magic, wonder, and poetic flow. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.”

Thumbs Up“I don’t think there was any chemistry between the two, I hope that we get more of kolas character in the rest of the series because I feel like I knew nothing about that character and that he was just words on a page, I also hope we get more of simis back story.”
