“At the beginning it feels like it’s a book about feminism, but the majority of the book portrays women who make questionable decisions, and being a little offensive... A few unnecessary “sex/sex-adjacent” scenes (?). What I hate the most is how awful the Marianne and Vanessa are as they seem to try to be “feminists”, being “women who take”, but the series of their actions seem shortsighted and unappreciative. However, I like the premise of the book.”
About Aliya Whiteley
Aliya Whiteley writes novels, short stories and non-fiction and has been published in The Guardian, Interzone, Black Static, Strange Horizons, and anthologies such as Fox Spirit's European Monsters. She has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize twice, and won the Drabblecast People's Choice Award in 2007. Her writing is often violent, tender, terrifying and funny. It has garnered much critical praise and provoked discussion.
