“I was very intrigued by the premises of this book! The magic system was very unique and loved finding out about the spells and prophecies. I wish the world building was more complex and with more background info. The main characters were a bit meh in my opinion but the MMC became very interesting towards the end.”

This is one of those books where you finish the last page and immediately want to start over. I honestly don’t know why more people aren’t talking about it because this completely worked for me.
The biggest strength is the pacing. It never felt slow or like it was spinning its wheels. The worldbuilding is so well done because it’s woven into the story instead of stopping everything for an info dump. I was constantly learning more about the world while the plot kept moving, which made it impossible to put down.
The characters absolutely stole the show. The morally gray (and morally black) cast is written so well that I became ridiculously attached to them. They’re ruthless, messy, complicated, and somehow still have enough heart that you’re rooting for them anyway.
The magic system is also incredibly unique. The whole book gave me grown-up Harry Potter vibes—but darker, sexier, and with a cast that feels more like Death Eaters with soft centers. It has that same feeling of discovering a hidden magical world while still being completely its own thing.
This book had everything I love: amazing characters, unique magic, fantastic pacing, and a world I never wanted to leave. Easily one of my favorite reads of the year and an easy six-star read for me.”
