“Justice for Orso
Justice for Gregor
I can’t seem to remember many books where the main characters were this unlucky and this unhappy throughout most of the book. I mean, when are their problems gonna end? True they did have a happy 3 year break, but what I don’t read I don’t see, and we only get the sad and doomed part of their story.
I am so sad that this amazing found family had only a few minutes all combined together, sharing their love and their mind, Sancia, Berenice, Gregor, Orso and Clef altogether. This family deserves so much more.
Valeria was predictable, her plotting and actions and the fact that she was hidden stuff was predictable as well. I also kinda guessed the relationship between Clef and Crasedes, but thought it was the other way around. What a good character development for Clef it will be, going from presumably the worst guy in their world, the guy who started it all, to this amazingly fun and witty character I really mist in this second book. Can’t wait to have his back story and see how much he evolved!

Robert Jackson Bennett is the author of Foundryside and the Divine Cities trilogy, which was a 2018 Hugo Awards finalist in the Best Series category. The first book in the series, City of Stairs, was also a finalist for the World Fantasy and Locus Awards, and the second, City of Blades, was a finalist for the World Fantasy, Locus, and British Fantasy Awards. His previous novels, which include American Elsewhere and Mr. Shivers, have received the Edgar Award, the Shirley Jackson Award, and the Philip K. Dick Citation of Excellence. He lives in Austin with his family.
