“A wonderful collection of 7 short stories and one novella set in the 1700s world of the Matthew Corbett series. Every story is a mix of mystery/horror/thriller and gives the reader more page time with well known main and side characters that had previously appeared in the series. I had no issues with any of the short stories and particularly enjoyed ‘The Scorpion’s Eye and ‘The Pale Pipe Smoker’ involving Minx Cutter, as well as the novella The Wandering Mary centered around Matthew Corbett.
I’d say this is a must read for fans of the series. 5/5”

“Worthy Addition to the Matthew Corbett series
As we await the conclusion of the Matthew Corbett series, this collection of short stories fleshes out some of our other favorite characters. There is plenty of mystery to be found with a simple but beautiful styled prose we've come to expect from the series. I enjoyed the chance to see Corbett(and others) solve an array of problems with daring, suspense, action, and even humor. This is a must read for any fans of the series.”
About Robert McCammon
Robert McCammon (b. 1952) is one of the country’s most accomplished authors of modern horror and historical fiction, and a founder of the Horror Writers Association. Raised by his grandparents in Birmingham, Alabama, Bram Stoker and World Fantasy Award–winning McCammon published his first novel, the Revelations-inspired Baal, when he was only twenty-six. His writings continued in a supernatural vein throughout the 1980s, as he produced such bestselling titles as Swan Song, The Wolf’s Hour, and Stinger.
In 1991, Boy’s Life won the World Fantasy Award for best novel. After his next novel, Gone South, McCammon took a break from writing to spend more time with his family. He did not publish another novel until 2002’s Speaks the Nightbird. Since then, he has followed “problem-solver” Matthew Corbett through seven sequels, in addition to writing several non-series books, including The Border and The Listener. McCammon still lives in Birmingham.
