Seven Pillars of Wisdom: A Triumph Reviews

3.0
“I have a lot of respect for this book because Lawrence writes with a lot of detail, and with a good appreciation for the culture he's describing. This is in stark contrast to other war memoirs I read which are usually not very descriptive and which tend to be arrogant/imperialistic. Lawrence also doesn't seem to embellish his actions too much, as he often puts the focus on others and the types of details he relays are often mundane sorts of things, as if they're coming from memory rather than imagination. For as good as the work is in that regard, I just couldn't muster up all that much interest. It felt like I was reading "Dune." The names of people and places, the description of culture, and the arid landscape reminded me a lot of that book - and I don't like that book at all. It's one work where I feel the movie was actually way better than the book.”
