“she’s the OG delusional girl”
“Official rating: 7 out of 10 bikes Well, the saga continues as Cam finds herself, once again, in the middle of a witch's plot to rule the world, or at least her high school. This time, however, it's not just Cam's mom, it's her three friends, one of which may just be the most wicked witch Cam as ever come face to face with. Now Cam is in a race to protect four students at her school from her mom and her wicked witch friends' game of "how measurable can I make a teen human in one week". It may only be one week, but it almost seems never ending as Cam fights to hide her own secrets and the secrets of others, protect those around her, try desperately to advance her relationship with Devon, learn spells without compromising her own ethics and morals and survive! I started this book and, to be honest, my first response was, "I don't think I like this one as much as the first one" and, while I ended the book enjoying it, I do feel like the first book was better then the the second. With that being said, there were some really cute moments in the second book and I feel like there was some really fun character development from some of the side characters. I loved seeing more of Jennah (and can we take a moment to admire how cute the spelling of her name is?!). I liked her in the first book, but I loved her in the second. She may just be my favorite character! I also enjoyed getting to know Cam's mom more and I can't help but to wonder, is she really that wicked? I mean, yes, she does do some questionable things and she doesn't exactly value life as much as, say, I do but that doesn't mean she's a horribly wicked person, either and getting to explore that in a gray area was fun and interesting. One of the things I did really like was the clues that, I suspect, will lead to some "surprising" answers in the 3rd book (I'm about to go start that as soon as I'm done sharing thoughts that I'm sure you couldn't care less about with you). I liked that we got to learn more about the world of witches and that Cam holds tight to her ethics and morals even though she's offered oh so many reasons not it. I love that it opens the door for a lot of gray areas, just life does and, that there is still so much we don't know but the opportunities are endless! I love that Cam is still super awkward but cute. She still leaves me excited to share these books with my daughter in the near future (we're reading another book right now). I could so see this trilogy turned into a Princess Diaries like movie (not the same story, but the same quirky fun, all ages, cute feel about it) and I'd totally watch it with my girls! All in all, I liked what I...wait...do you hear that? It sounds like....yep! That's the 3rd book calling my name! It sounds like it needs my help! I better go read....I mean....help it!”
