“I really wanted to like this one. The premise was giving me Black Widow vibes. But I had to push myself to the end and it left me not wanting to continue on with the duology. If you have a very specific interest in 1960s Soviet Russian spies with psychic abilities, you may enjoy reading this…but keep in mind the clunky storytelling, sporadically prosing teenagers, and confusing supernatural elements that were difficult to keep straight.”
“Yulia has to hide her thoughts and control her emotions to survive in Communist Russia. She reads the minds of the people she touches. Captured by the KGB and forced to work as a psychic spy with a mission to undermine the U.S. space program, she’s thrust into a world of suspicion, deceit, and horrifying power where she can trust no one. Incredibly Unique story. Yulia must face the past and take control of her powers, all while trying to escape the KGB and prevent her KGB controller from taking over the country. Yulia is a strong independent character. Originally living in the poor of the Soviet Union with her mentally disabled brother and ex-scientist mother. Her family is captured and Yulia is forced into a Psychic Spy program against her will. The other Psychic children play a big role in Yulia's life. Who can be trusted in this group of kids? Facing the hardships of Russian Winters, finding American Spies, falling for a boy, strengthening her powers and all during the intense time of the US-Russia space Race, makes this story unique. Yulia must overcome many obstacles and I enjoyed reading about her adventure.”
